2008 NJHS Football Schedule Released

The 2008 North Jackson football schedule has been released and it is totally changed from last season.  The only game that remained in its previous slot is the Etowah game, the last week of the regular season.  East Limestone and Madison County have moved up to 5A, so they are no longer in Region 7.  Also gone are Ardmore and East Lawrence, both of which moved to Region 8.  Replacing those four schools are previous Region 7 members Fairview, Douglas, and Guntersville, along with 4A newcomer Plainview, which has moved up from 3A.  With the influx of different teams came the need to shuffle the existing games around.  The Scottsboro game has been moved to a familiar slot, the opening game of the season which will generate extra excitement for the opener.

In addition, there will be a Jamboree game against Sparkman on the 21st of August and the Chiefs will conclude Spring Training with a Jamboree game against Woodlawn of Birmingham on Friday, May 16th.  That game will be played at R.D. Hicks Stadium.  Here is the game schedule:

Shawn Peek is the new NJHS Head Coach

NJHS Principal Sam Houston called this afternoon to notify us that Shawn Peek has accepted the job as North Jackson Head Football Coach, ending the search for a new coach at the school.  The job became vacant when former Head Coach Mark Rose accepted the head coach job at Smith's Station last month.

The intent is to retain the current staff, but no further details are available as to who will be in which position at this time.   We will provide more information as the picture becomes more clear in the next few days as Coach Peek sets up his staff.
